You’d never know what could happen while you go about your days as usual. If any unforeseen circumstances happen and you are being hospitalised, having a medical card at hand can be very helpful.
How does eMedic Plus work?
eMedic Plus is a standalone online medical card that provides coverage for hospitalisations. Doesn’t matter if you’re being hospitalised due to sudden sickness or due to an accident, your admission will be covered by Generali.
Unfortunately, if you already have a pre-existing illness or medical condition that requires you to be admitted to a hospital, you won’t be covered by the medical card.
What hospitalisation services are being covered?
If you’re being admitted, the following would be the hospitalisation services that will be covered by the eMedic Plus medical card. And if you want to find out more details on the hospitalisation services, do check out the product disclosure sheets: 1) Deductible 2) Non-deductible

What are the types of plans available?
With Generali eMedic Plus, there are four (4) types of plans with different annual limits and you can choose whichever plan, depending on your needs or preferences.
Types of Plans | Annual Limit |
Plan 20 | RM20,000 |
Plan 50 | RM50,000 |
Plan 100 | RM100,000 |
Plan 150 | RM150,000 |
You can also enjoy the ‘Inflation Defender’ benefit which means at the end of every five (5) policy years, starting from your policy’s date of issuance, your annual limit will increase by 10% of the initial annual limit that you chose. It is subject to a maximum of 50% of the initial annual limit only.
What happens if I don’t make any claims?
There is another one (1) benefit that we would like to highlight which is the No Claim Rewards benefit. If you don’t make any claims for one (1) policy year, you will be rewarded with cash at the end of the policy year.
This reward is tiered and is up to RM60 per year, depending on the type of plan you choose. For better clarity, you can check out the table below:
Types of Plans | No Claim Rewards |
Plan 20 | RM20 |
Plan 50 | RM30 |
Plan 100 | RM50 |
Plan 150 | RM60 |
And if you’re eligible, Generali will send you the No Claim Rewards through your registered email address. However, please kindly note that the said payment method is subject to change from time to time as determined by Generali.
Deductible and non-deductible per hospitalisation options
With Generali eMedic Plus, you can choose between deductible or non-deductible options.
Deductible means that if you’re being hospitalised, you will need to pay for the first RM1,000 upfront of the total medical expenses charged to you. The remaining balance will then be paid by Generali after deducting the first RM1,000, subject to your annual limit.
For example, your total medical bill is RM10,000 and because you choose deductible, you will pay RM1,000 first and the remaining RM9,000 will be paid by Generali.
Non-deductible on the other hand, is the total opposite whereby Generali will pay the total medical expenses charged to you.
With that said, the deductible option typically comes with lower premiums and the non-deductible with slightly higher premiums.
Is a medical check-up required? When will I get my card and policy documents?
No, you don’t need to do a medical check-up to apply for a Generali eMedic Plus medical card. However, you will need to answer a few health questions upon online application. It’s very simple and it won’t take much of your time!
You should receive your policy documents via email within 7 working days.
Your e-medical card will be available to you via the Customer Portal after you receive your policy documents from us.
Can I use my eMedic Plus medical card immediately?
For accident-related hospitalisation, you can use your medical card immediately. For other medical conditions, there is a 30-day waiting period before you can use your card. And for other specified illnesses such as cancer, high blood pressure or diabetes, there is a 120-day waiting period.
